Spring is for babies

My mom called to tell me that a baby fawn is curled up in the corner just outside her front door. She says it looks about 3-4 weeks old. She called the Parks and Wildlife Dept. to find out what to do. They said that the mother is out foraging and will find the safest place she can to leave her baby while she's gone. She may not return for up to 11 hours. My mom told them that she had put cat food and water out, and they said, "Oh, no, don't do that." She should leave it alone to wait for its mom.

Good job doe. Your baby is behind a brick wall, in the corner of a porch that sits up high, by a light and a watchful lady. Within the last six months or so, when staying at my mom's house, I was awakened by a band of coyotes, almost laughing at their prey. They howl like hyenas, and it isn't pretty. Little Gustavo was asleep next to me one moment, and then burrowing his head into my neck to hide the next.

I'm so glad she chose the porch. It's perfect. Little fawn like Bambi is all alone right now. Wish for her to see her mom again.
